Preliminary Core 2: Body in Motion

In this unit we will explore how the body moves and why it moves in particular ways. We will focus on the relationships between anatomy, physiology, fitness, biomechanics and efficient human movement.

Our focus questions:

*  How do the musculoskeletal and cardiorespiratory systems of the body influence and respond to   movement?

*  What is the relationship between physical fitness, training and movement efficiency?

*   How do biomechanical principles influence movement?

Archaeology hunt

Following our little 'bone' hunt, you know have the job our memorising the bones AND anatomical references.
You can do this a few ways:
  • Flash cards
  • Look, cover, write using the labelled diagram you received in class
  • Have a go at the online game I sent your way (email)
  • Say the bone name, locate it on your body, test your friends

Test yo' self - Skeletal Muscle

Use the KAHOOT Quizzes to review information on the bones and anatomical reference. I have added the quiz PowerPoint I used in class Click on the link below

The Muscular System

Now its time to learn the muscles. Use the resource we used in class, link them to movements.

Joint Actions

In this part of the course you will learn to:
  • Perform and analyse movements, eg. overarm throw, by examining:
          - bones involved and the joint action
          - muscles involved and the type of contraction
I have added the worksheet from the Joint Action Lab and Google Classroom has the video you analysed for the 'Lay Up' Class Task.

In this part of the course you will learn about:
  • Components of blood
  • Structure and function of heart, arteries, veins, capillaries
  • Pulmonary and systemic circulation
  • Blood pressure

Cardiovascular Booklet

Respiratory System

In this part of the course you will learn about:
  • Structure and function
  • Lung function (inspiration, expiration)
  • Exchange of gases (internal, external)
